Lomochrome Classicolor 200 35mm Film (C-41)
Lomochrome Classicolor 200 is an ISO 200 colour negative film with a warm, classic look that sits somewhere between a modern consumer stock and the feel of older European emulsions. It's daylight-balanced, C-41 processed, and produced by Inoviscoat in Germany — the same facility behind Orwo NC200.
If you've shot Orwo NC200, you already know what this emulsion is capable of. Under the Lomochrome Classicolor name it's available in a fresh, well-packaged format at an accessible price point.

Why photographers love Classicolor 200
Classicolor 200 has a character that's hard to pin down but easy to enjoy. The colours are warm and slightly muted — not in a faded way, but in the way older European films tended to render the world before the era of hyper-saturated consumer stocks. Skin tones are natural and flattering, greens have an earthy quality, and the overall contrast is gentle enough to give you good shadow and highlight detail.
At ISO 200 it handles a wide range of conditions well — bright outdoor light, overcast skies, open shade — making it a genuinely versatile everyday film. The German-made emulsion gives it a consistency and quality that punches above its price point.
It works well in virtually any 35mm camera, and its relatively neutral, classic character makes it a great choice for street, travel, and documentary-style shooting where you want the film to complement the scene rather than transform it.
A bit of film history
Inoviscoat is a German film manufacturer based in Leverkusen, operating on the former Agfa coating facility. They produce a range of photographic emulsions including the Orwo NC200, which shares its base with Classicolor 200. The fact that a dedicated European film coating operation is still active and producing new emulsions is genuinely significant for the analogue community — buying this film directly supports that.
Lomography has partnered with Inoviscoat to bring this emulsion to a wider audience under the Lomochrome Classicolor name, making a quality German-made film more accessible worldwide.
Processing
Classicolor 200 requires standard C-41 colour negative processing. We process C-41 in-house at Ikigai Film Lab in Melbourne, with scanning available on our Fujifilm Frontier and Noritsu HS-1800 scanners.
Common questions
Is Lomochrome Classicolor 200 the same as Orwo NC200?
Yes — Classicolor 200 is made by Inoviscoat in Germany on the same coating line as Orwo NC200. The emulsion is the same; the difference is the packaging and distribution. If you've shot NC200 and enjoyed it, Classicolor 200 will feel immediately familiar.
Who makes Lomochrome Classicolor 200?
It's manufactured by Inoviscoat in Leverkusen, Germany — a company operating on the former Agfa film coating facility. They are one of the few remaining dedicated photographic film manufacturers in Europe, and their emulsions have a distinctly classic European character.
How does Classicolor 200 compare to Kodak Gold 200 or ColorPlus?
Classicolor 200 has a cooler, more muted character compared to Kodak's consumer ISO 200 stocks. Gold 200 and ColorPlus both lean warm and punchy — classic Kodak. Classicolor has more of a subdued, European feel that some photographers prefer for its restraint and subtlety. Neither is better; they suit different tastes and subjects.
